Vermillion’s Walk-Off Single Seals Oakwood’s Dramatic 6-5 Victory Over Fisher in Dunavan’s First Win

Sophomore Caydence Vermillion, who pitched a complete game, delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning on Wednesday (March 20) as Oakwood edged Fisher 6-5.
Vermillion’s game-winning hit drove in Bella Bradford.
The victory was the first for first-year head coach Jason Dunavan.
Vermillion (1-0) walked five batters and struck out seven.
Gracie Enos and Karleigh Nelson each clubbed three hits for the Comets. Bradford and Gracie Hanner both ended with two hits and two RBI.
Vermillion, Maitlyn Griffis and Samantha Dunavan all stroked one hit. Nelson tallied three runs. Scoring once each were Bradford and Enos.
Enos also drove in a run.
Oakwood (1-2) returns to action on Monday (March 25) at Tolono Unity.
