Taylor and Elliott Lead Oakwood Girls to Scoring Finishes at Salt Fork Invitational

Nikita Taylor was a double placer and Aubri Elliott scored points in one event for the Oakwood girls’ track and field team on Tuesday (April 9) in the 12-team Salt Fork Invitational.
Taylor annexed a third-place finish in the 200 meters (personal-best 28.41 seconds) and added a fourth-place finish in the long jump (at 15 feet, 7 inches).
Elliott took sixth in the 100 meters (personal-best 13.73 seconds).
One Oakwood relay earned points. The 400-meter foursome of Taylor Smoot, Leanne Snow, Riley Denhalter and Elliott were sixth in 58.03 seconds.
Taylor and Elliott accounted for two of the Comets’ seven personal bests in individual events.
They were joined by Macie Kinney (eighth in the 1,600 meters in 7:24.75), Rylee Wright (10th in the 300-meter hurdles in 1:02.14), Amber Betzwiser (11th in the 800 meters in 3:09.64), Laylah Gibbons (12th in the 100-meter hurdles in 21.25 seconds) and Gibbons in the long Jump (12th at 13 feet, 2 inches).
Team honors were won by Danville (157 points) followed by Salt Fork (88 points). Oakwood was 11th with 11 points.
Oakwood returns to action on Friday (April 12) In the Unity Invitational in Tolono.
