St. Joseph-Ogden Edges Prairie Central in Low-Hit Game, Continues Winning Streak Against Rantoul

In an Illini Prairie Conference baseball game where each team managed just two hits, St. Joseph-Ogden pushed across enough runs to beat Prairie Central, 3-1, in Fairbury on Monday (April 15).
The SJ-O hits were doubles by Logan Rosenthal and Braxton Waller.
Garrett Denhart – who walked on all three of his plate appearances – scored one run as did teammates Kodey McKinney and Rosenthal. Luke Landrus drove in one run.
Bryson Houchens (4-0) pitched 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. He allowed one hit and struck out eight hitters. Jared Altenbaumer pitched the last 1 1/3 innings, also giving up one hit, and posting one strikeout.
On Tuesday (April 16), Tanner Jacob and Waller hammered home runs as SJ-O blanked Rantoul, 15-0. Waller had three RBI. Jacob’s homer was a solo shot.
Will Haley was 3-for-3 for the Spartans. Altenbaumer, Nolan Earley and Jacob all collected two hits. Landrus, McKinney and Rosenthal ended with one hit apiece.
Altenbaumer, Earley, McKinney and Rosenthal all knocked in two runs. Landrus tallied three runs. Scoring twice apiece were Earley, Haley, Jacob and McKinney.
Asher Pruemer and Trevor Ames combined for a one-hitter and the team’s seventh shutout of the year. Both pitched two innings. Pruemer fanned four batters and Ames struck out two hitters.
SJ-O (18-2) is 5-0 in IPC games and returns to action on Thursday (April 18) at home against Pontiac.
