Martinie Powers St. Joseph-Ogden Softball to Decisive Victory Over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond with Six RBIs

Addy Martinie belted a double, a triple and a three-run home run on Saturday (April 20) as the St. Joseph-Ogden softball team dispatched Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, 13-1, at Randy Wolken Field.

Martinie, who scored two runs, drove in six runs for the day.

Hayden Dahl and Grace Osterbur also produced three-hit games. Dahls’ totals included two doubles.

Other swat leaders for SJ-O – all with two hits – were Halle Brazelton, Addison Frick and Chloe Harper. Timera Blackburn-Kelly accounted for the Spartans’ other hit.

Osterbur knocked in two runs. Finishing with one RBI apiece were Dahl, Harper and Emma McKinney.

Frick tallied three runs. Dahl and Osterbur each scored twice.

Blackburn-Kelly, Harper and Adelyn Jannusch all scored one run.

Amelia Huckstadt pitched a five-inning complete game. She yielded four hits and walked no one. Huckstadt struck out three.

On Thursday (April 18), Martinie poked a home run, but the Spartans dropped a 6-2 decision at home against Pontiac in a game they did not allow an earned run.

Martinie produced two of SJ-O’s five hits. Dahl, Osterbur and Ellie Ward all collected one hit. Dahl had a double and tallied the team’s other run.

Blackburn-Kelly suffered the loss. She pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up three hits. She walked three batters and struck out seven.

She was followed to the circle by Madison Stevens, who fanned two hitters during her 1 1/3-inning stint.

SJ-O (17-6) is 5-1 in Illini Prairie Conference play. The Spartans return to action on Monday (April 22) at Maroa-Forsyth.
