Oakwood Softball Suffers Second Extra-Inning Loss of the Week, Falls 11-7 to Salt Fork

Oakwood’s softball team lost its second extra-inning game of the week on Friday (April 19) when Salt Fork secured an 11-7 win in eight innings in Fithian.
Caydence Vermillion homered in the fourth inning and Samantha Dunavan socked a homer in the sixth inning for the Comets.
Dunavan, Gracie Enos, Madi McFarland and Karleigh Nelson all contributed two hits for Oakwood. Vermillion had one hit as did teammates Olivia Fegett and Gracie Hanner. One of Enos’ hits was a double.
McFarland knocked in two runs. Dunavan, Nelson and Vermillion all had one RBI.
Besides Dunavan (two) and Vermillion (one), other Comets to score runs were Enos (two), Fegett (one) and McFarland (one).
Vermillion pitched all eight innings. She walked one and struck out three.
On Thursday (April 18), the Comets were shut out at home by Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, 18-0.
The Oakwood hits were singles by Dunavan and Enos.
Oakwood (4-15) returns to action on Monday (April 22) at Danville Schlarman Academy.
