Loran Tate Secures Spot in State Triple Jump, Represents Heritage at St. Anne Sectional

Junior Loran Tate clinched a state berth in the IHSA girls’ Class 1A track and field state meet by virtue of her performance on Thursday (May 9) at the 17-school St. Anne Sectional.
Tate placed third in the triple jump (34 feet, 1 inch), but exceeded the IHSA’s automat qualifying mark.
Tate also ran third in the 100 meters (13.30 seconds) and fourth in the 200 meters (28.19 seconds), but did not qualify in the running events.
Teammate Bri Ploense was seventh in the 100 meters (13.70 seconds).
Two of the Hawks’ relays fared well at the sectional.
The 400-meter relay, featuring Tate, Alex Tatman, Madi Wilson and Ploense, was fifth in 54.21 seconds.
Sharing the baton for the eighth-place 800-meter relay were Tatman, Bailee Lubben, Wilson and Ploense. Their cumulative time was 2:06.38.
Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin earned the team crown with 120 points. Heritage placed 10th with 24 points.
Tate will return to action on Thursday (May 16) in the state semifinals at Charleston. All finalists will return to Eastern Illinois University on Saturday (May 18).
