Oakwood Falls to St. Joseph-Ogden in Regional Semifinal Despite Strong Efforts from Vermillion, Harrison, and Dudley

Cort Vermillion, Chase Harrison and Carsen Dudley managed hits for Oakwood on Wednesday (May 15) in a 4-1 loss to St. Joseph-Ogden in a semifinal game of the Bismarck-Henning Class 2A Regional.
Bryson Marcinko scored the lone Oakwood run.
Harrison pitched 4 2/3 innings and suffered the loss. He walked six and struck out three. Alex Wallace pitched a scoreless final 1 1/3 innings. He yielded one hit and issued one walk.
Oakwood finishes the season with a 16-15 record.
The Comets’ top batters for the year were Vermillion (.381), Derek Drews (.340) and Chase Harrison (.308).
Drews (31) and Brody Taflinger (30) were the team leaders in runs scored.
Vermillion (24) and Jackson Dudley (23) delivered the most RBI.
Four players stole at least 14 bases. The Comets’ co-leaders were Drews and Taflinger (17 apiece). They were followed by Harrison (16) and Vermillion (14).
Marcinko (nine) and Vermillion (seven) ended with the most extra-base hits.
Alec Harrison had the most pitching wins (four), followed by Chase Harrison (three) and Dustin Hughes (three).
Alec Harrison (78) and Chase Harrison (70) had the most strikeouts.
Wallace was the team-leader in appearances (11).
Alec Harrison (2.73) and Chase Harrison (2.74) compiled the team’s lowest earned run averages.
