St. Joseph-Ogden Girls’ Tennis Faces Tough Season Opener Against Mara-Forsyth, Falls 9-0

Twelve of 18 squad members played a match for the St. Joseph-Ogden girls’ tennis team in its season-opening match on Thursday (Aug. 22) at Decatur’s Fairview Park courts.
The Spartans dropped a 9-0 decision to Mara-Forsyth.
The SJ-O singles’ lineup featured junior Samantha Kelso (No. 1), senior Madison Clampitt (No. 2), senior Sonia Patel (No. 3), junior Ainsley Rhoton (No. 4), senior Ella Dietiker (No. 5) and sophomore Madison Farber (No. 6).
In doubles, the Spartans went with a lineup that included seniors Olivia Getty and Sara Kearney (No. 1), senior MaKennah Hamilton and junior Lily Rice (No. 2) along with sophomore Audrie Helfrich and senior Audrey Benoit (No. 3).
SJ-O (0-1) returns to action on Saturday (Aug. 31) at Paris in a meet that also includes Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
