St. Joseph-Ogden Soccer Secures Back-to-Back Shutout Wins to Cap Off Week

St. Joseph-Ogden’s soccer team ended its week with back-to-back shutout wins.
The Spartans prevailed at Iroquois West, 8-0, on Saturday (Aug. 31) after fashioning a 5-0 victory at home over Hoopeston Area on Friday (Aug. 30) in a match called by weather conditions with 32 minutes left in the second half.
Against Iroquois West, sophomore Yadi Acosta scored one goal and assisted on three others.
Finding the back of the net twice each were Alex Acosta and Zach Harper. Tyler Hess had a goal and an assist.
Other Spartans scoring goals were Davin Alvarez and Nico Harris. Other assists were by Waylon Jones, Steven Newman and Carter Turner.
Logan Patton recorded one save.
Against Hoopeston Area, Alex Acosta registered two goals and two assists. Mills also notched two goals. Alvarez scored once.
Contributing one assist were Harper and Quinn Stahl.
Jackson Colvin stopped two shots.
On Thursday (Aug. 29), SJ-O dropped a 5-2 decision at Urbana Uni High.
Harper totaled one goal and one assist. Mills netted one goal and Colvin produced a season-high eight saves.
SJ-O (3-2) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 3) at Argenta-Oreana.
