SJ-O Soccer Claims Argenta-Oreana Tournament Title with Fifth Shutout of the Season

St. Joseph-Ogden’s fifth shutout of the soccer season came in the Saturday (Sept. 7) championship match of the Argenta-Oreana Tournament and was a 4-0 triumph over Decatur St. Teresa.
The Spartans’ diversified scoring attack featured one goal apiece from Alex Acosta, Yadi Acosta, Zach Harper and Logan Mills.
Tyler Hess assisted on two of the scores. Adding one assist each were Yadi Acosta and Mills.
A hat trick by Harper against Warrensburg-Latham on Thursday (Sept. 5) and two goals by Mills against Decatur Eisenhower propelled SJ-O into the finals of the Argenta-Oreana Tournament.
Harper accounted for all of the scoring in a 3-1 win over W-L. Alex Acosta and Steven Newman added assists and Jackson Colvin produced a season-high 11 saves.
Against Eisenhower on Tuesday (Sept. 3), Acosta, Davin Alvarez, Harper, Hess and Waylon Jones all netted one goal.
Contributing one assist each were Alvarez, Harper, Hess and Jones.
SJ-O (7-2) has won six matches in a row and returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 10) at Fisher.
