Walker and Bressner Lead SJ-O with Wins at Chrisman Cowchip Invitational

Two St. Joseph-Ogden runners won their flighted races on Saturday (Sept. 7) in the 26-school Chrisman Cowchip girls’ cross-country invitational.

In the race for No. 3 runners, SJ-O’s Tessa Walker was the winner in the 3-mile race (19 minutes, 42.2 seconds). In the race for No. 4 runners, Spartan Grace Bressner was first (20:23.9).

Other SJ-O runners were Savanna Franzen (third in the race for No. 1 runners, 18:55.0), Abigail Bello (fourth in the race for No. 5 runners, 22:16.0), Sydney Steinbach (fourth in the race for No. 7 runners, 24:15.8) and Kiah Riesel (ninth in the race for No. 6 runners, 25:37.1).

Franzen, Walker, Bressner, Bello and Steinbach all ran quicker than they did in the first meet. Franzen cut more than 71 seconds off her time from a week earlier.

SJ-O returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 10) in a three-school meet at Kickapoo State Park.
