Fisher and Retz Lead SJ-O with Top-15 Finishes at Peoria Notre Dame Invitational

St. Joseph-Ogden runners Jack Fisher and Lance Retz secured top-15 finishes on Saturday (Sept. 21) in the open division of the 665-runner Peoria Notre Dame Richard Spring boys’ cross-country invitational at Peoria’s Detweiller Park.
Fisher ran the 3-mile course in 16 minutes, 7.75 seconds and placed fifth. Retz was 13th in 16:40.54.
As a team, SJ-O ended in 11th with 200 points. Open division champion Mason had 46 points. A total of 47 schools fielded full teams.
Other Spartan placers were E.J. Beckett (44th in 17:14.48), Colin Burnett (51st in 17:18.57), Nate Farney (106th in 17:56.42), Aiden Hundley (180th in 18:36.99), Mark Harbourt (362nd in 20:22.93) and Hunter Dilley (437th in 21:06.79).
Fisher, Retz, Beckett, Hundley and Harbourt all ran their quickest 3-mile times of the season.
SJ-O will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 28) in its own Spartan Classic.
