Lance Retz Leads St. Joseph-Ogden Boys’ Cross Country at Meet of Champions in Terre Haute

Lance Retz was the top finisher for the St. Joseph-Ogden boys’ cross-country team on Saturday (Oct. 5) in the varsity division of the 45-school Meet of Champions race in Terre Haute, Ind.
Retz covered the 5,000-meter course in 17:18.51 and placed 294th.
The Spartans’ other six runners entered the finish chute within 38 seconds of one another.
They were Colin Burnett (17:39.99), Jack Fisher (17:51.75), E.J. Beckett (17:52.11), Eli Franklin (18:00.22), Nate Farney (18:00.84) and Joe Griebat (18:17.12).
In the junior varsity race, SJ-O placed 16th out of 20 teams.
The Spartans’ leader was Aiden Hundley (66th in 19:32.07) for the 5,000-meter course.
Other team leaders were Henry McCannon (154th in 21:03.64), Hunter Dilley (155th in 21:03.85), Mark Harbourt (177th in 21:33.67), Sam Zadeh (227th in 22:48.10) and Nathan Hinkel (242nd in 23:21.48.
SJ-O returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 8) in the Illini Prairie Conference Meet at Rantoul.
