SJ-O Girls’ Tennis Dominates GCMS with 9-0 Sweep, Winning Every Match in Straight Sets

St. Joseph-Ogden’s girls’ tennis team swept every match in straight sets on Thursday (Oct. 10) and dealt Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley a 9-0 loss at the Atkins Tennis Center.
Two SJ-O singles players didn’t lose a game. Posting 6-0, 6-0 wins were Samantha Kelso at No. 1 and Olivia Getty at No. 5.
Other singles’ winners for the Spartans were Madison Clampitt (6-4, 6-0 at No. 2), Madison Farber (6-0, 6-1 at No. 3), Ainsley Rhoten (6-4, 6-0 at No. 4) and Avarie Dietiker (6-0, 6-1 at No. 6).
In doubles, the Spartans’ No. 1 entry of MaKennah Hamilton and Lily Rice scored a 6-2, 6-2 decision.
At No. 2, Ella Dietiker and Sara Kearney prevailed, 6-1, 6-1.
At No. 3, Shelby Campbell and Claire Hartman registered a 6-2, 7-5 win.
SJ-O (7-7) returns to action on Monday (Oct. 14) at Atkins against Maroa-Forsyth.
