St. Joseph-Ogden Boys’ Soccer Ends Historic Season with Sectional Semifinal Loss to Normal University High

St. Joseph-Ogden’s record-setting boys’ soccer season came to an end on Saturday (Oct. 26) with a 6-0 loss to Normal University High in a semifinal game of the IHSA Class 1A Monticello Sectional.
It was the only match this season that the Spartans were held scoreless. SJ-O trailed, 4-0, at intermission.
For the year, SJ-O outscored its opponents 172-30.
Zach Harper was the team’s top scorer (46 goals), followed by Alex Acosta (35 goals), Logan Mills (34 goals), Tyler Hess (15 goals), Yadi Acosta (13 goals) and Davin Alvarez (11 goals).
The Spartans totaled 20 hat tricks for the season, including nine by Harper. Mills had six, Alex Acosta had three and Hess had two.
Mills (22) led the team in assists and was followed by Hess (20), Alex Acosta (19), Harper (14) and Yadi Acosta (nine).
Goalkeeper Jaxson Colvin was part of 14 shutouts for the season.
SJ-O finished with a 22-3-1 overall record. The previous mark for wins in a season was 19 in 2012.
