The St. Joseph-Ogden (SJO) High School Drama Program is set to cap off a powerful theatrical season with its Spring Fundraiser Showcase, Raise Your Voice, on Saturday, May 10th at 7 p.m. in the SJO High School auditorium. Admission is free, with donations at the door strongly encouraged to support the program’s ongoing efforts.
This year, the SJO Drama program has tackled stories that resonate deeply with audiences. The fall production, Radium Girls, brought to life the harrowing true story of young women in the 1920s who fought for justice after suffering from radium poisoning in factories. Their courage in standing up for what’s right-despite efforts to silence them-remains a timeless lesson in resilience and advocacy.
The spring musical, SpongeBob SquarePants, offered a contrasting but equally important message: that embracing our differences and coming together as a community makes us stronger, and that unity can help overcome any obstacle.
These productions have explored themes of justice, self-acceptance, and collective strength. The upcoming Raise Your Voice showcase continues this journey, featuring musical theatre numbers that celebrate the courage to stand up for what’s right, the strength to remain true to oneself, and the beauty of individuality.
Funds raised at the event will directly benefit the SJO Drama Program, supporting future productions, a youth summer camp, the International Thespian Society troupe, and other arts initiatives at the school. Donations help ensure that SJO students continue to have opportunities to participate in transformative arts experiences, both on stage and behind the scenes.
