Ruwe places third in Paxton
Zach Ruwe placed third individually for Villa Grove/Heritage in a five-team boys’ cross-country meet on Tuesday (Oct. 13) at Paxton.
Ruwe’s 3-mile time was 17 minutes and 25 seconds.
“Our high school team raced a day after completing the hardest week of training this season,” VG/Heritage coach Jim Kestner said. “We’ve been overloading our systems and transitioning to an end-of-season taper.
“We didn’t expect anyone to get a PR. I’m really excited to see the team race at the regional on Oct. 24th.”
The team’s other participants at Paxton were: Rowan Denmark-Collins (14th in 19:10), Lukas Carey (20th in 20:38), Aidan Ashbrook (23rd in 21:08), Daniel Olson (25th in 21:25), Logan Chapman (26th in 22:11) and Austin Zoch (33rd in 27:47).
In the team race, VG/Heritage placed third behind Paxton-Buckley-Loda and Iroquois West.
The Blue Devils return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 20) at Tuscola.
