Comets on five-game win streak

The Comets’ boys’ basketball winning streak reached five games on Saturday (March 6) after the team finished up a 3-0 week.
On Thursday (March 4), Oakwood won at Westville, 64-39. On Saturday at home, the Comets had their highest scoring game of the season, overpowering Armstrong-Potomac 79-34.
Against Westville, junior Josh Young tallied 18 points, including 10 in the first stanza as Oakwood opened up a 20-5 advantage.
Brevin Wells scored 14 points and Isaiah Ruch ended with 11 points. Wells, Dalton Hobick and Griffin Trees all downed three-point shots.
The Comets had extended their lead to 36-15 at halftime.
In the makeup game against A-P, Wells made 21 points. Young had 19 and Ruch contributed 12. Grant Powell added a season-high nine points.
Young managed 17 of his points in the opening half, extending his streak of consecutive games scoring in double figures this year to 11. Wells has made a team-high 26 three-pointers.
Oakwood pushed its lead to 22-8 after one quarter and 45-21 at intermission.
A-P was limited to four second-half field goals.
Oakwood (9-2) will conclude its season at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin on Monday (March 8).
