Panthers end season with win at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin

The final three games for the St. Joseph seventh-grade boys’ basketball team were all settled by margins of five points, or less.

The Panthers’ final runaway was a 34-12 victory at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin on Thursday (Feb. 25). Ryker Lockhart led the way with seven points.

The month of March arrived and so did the three highly-competitive games.

On Monday (March 1), St. Joseph won a rematch from Tolono Unity, 42-40, at home It was the same opponent the Panthers had lost to by 20 points in a road game.

Trevor Ames scored 13 points and Will Haley added nine for St. Joseph. Just before halftime, Ames made a shot from three-quarters’ court.

On Wednesday (March 3) at Mount Zion, St. Joseph dropped a 43-41 decision. Ames nailed a half-court buzzer-beater in this game. Teammate Tim Blackburn-Kelley scored 12 points.

The Panthers closed the season on Thursday (March 4), winning their home-finale, 49-44 in double overtime over Prairieview Ogden. Zach Harper scored a team-high 14 points and Lockhart contributed 13 points.

The St. Joseph seventh-graders ended the year with an 8-3 overall record.

Blackburn-Kelley was the top scorer in four games. Ames was the leader three times and Lockhart was the leading scorer in two games. Haley and Harper were the team-leaders in one game apiece.
