Oakwood Soccer sets program record

Eleven players had goals or assists on Monday (April 5) as the Oakwood/Salt Fork soccer team set a program record with a 14-goal outburst at Watseka.
The Comets prevailed 14-0. They led at halftime, 10-0, which also set a school record for most goals in one half.
Brady Tevebaugh scored a hat trick for the third match in a row and Sam Howie also netted a hat trick.
Each senior added to the hat trick with a fourth goal in the shutout win. Howie accounted for half of the team’s goals by assisting on three goals by teammates.

Gage Reed had his first two-goal performance of the season. Ending with one goal apiece were Aaron Dean, Jarron Fleming, Reef Pacot and Robby Wright.
Squad members with one assist each were Pacot, Tevebaugh, Derek Drews, Joe Lashuay, Grant Powell and Nathan Wright.
Since losing its season-opener, Oakwood/Salt Fork has reeled off eight wins in a row.
Goalkeepers Dean and Pacot stopped four Watseka shots. Pacot totaled three saves.
Oakwood/SF peppered the Watseka goalie with 29 shots.
On Tuesday (April 6), Oakwood/Salt Fork fought to a 2-2 draw with visiting Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
The Comets fell behind twice. The first time, they created a 1-1 deadlock before halftime with Pacot scoring, thanks to an assist from Tevebaugh.
The visitors went ahead by one goal again before Grant Powell’s unassisted goal created the final score.
Dean totaled five saves.
The Comets (8-1-1) return to action on Thursday (April 8) at home against Schlarman Academy.
