Oakwood gets first shutout of 2021 season

Isaiah Ruch and Tom Tiernan teamed up on the first shutout pitched by Oakwood this season, a 3-0 triumph at home over Westville on Wednesday (May 5).
Ruch pitched six innings of two-hit ball, walking three and striking out four. Tiernan finished it off by retiring all three batters he faced in the seventh inning.
Grant Powell had two hits, scored one run and drove in one run for the Comets. Cayden Wells and Travis Goodner scored the team’s other runs. Dylan Bensyl also drove in a run.
Dalton Hobick also had two hits for Oakwood, including a double that accounted for the game’s lone extra-base hit.
Oakwood (4-4) returns to action on Friday (May 7) at Armstrong-Potomac.
