The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the ramp from eastbound Interstate 74 to southbound I-57 in Champaign will close Oct. 11. The closure is necessary to build a temporary ramp for eastbound I-74 to southbound I-57 for the duration of the larger interchange construction project and is expected to last about four months. Motorists wanting to exit eastbound I-74 to southbound I-57 must follow the posted detour:
- Exit 179B to northbound I-57
- Exit 238 to Olympian Drive
- Olympian Drive to southbound I-57
Temporary traffic signals will be in place to assist motorists turning left onto Olympian Drive to get to southbound I-57.
