Jones finishes in 13th place at IESA State meet

Heritage eighth-grader Kiara Jones placed 13th on Saturday (Oct. 16) in the girls’ 225-runner IESA Class 1A cross-country state meet.
She ran the 2-mile course at Normal’s Maxwell Park in 12 minutes, 51.8 seconds. Among eighth-graders in the race, Jones was the No. 6 finisher.
Jones ran the race in borrowed spikes, that had not been broken in, and were a half-size too big.
In the Class 1A boys’ state meet, Heritage seventh-grader Clark Roland was 46th in a field of 227 competitors. His time was 12:07. Among seventh-graders in the race, Roland was 13th.
