Panthers on a seven-game win streak

The St. Joseph Middle School boys’ eighth-grade boys’ basketball team extended its winning streak to seven games, winning two narrow decisions before doubling up the score at home against Paris Mayo.
The Panthers topped Champaign Edison, 36-33, and edged Mahomet-Seymour at home on Tuesday (Dec. 14), 41-37, before heading into Christmas Break with a 29-13 triumph over Paris Mayo on Thursday (Dec. 16).
Ryker Lockhart nailed a team-high 12 points against Edison. Bryson Houchens added eight points.
Against M-S, Lockhart tallied a game-high 17 points, followed by Zach Harper (seven points) and Asher Pruemer (six points).
St. Joseph held a 10-8 lead after one quarter, but held the Bulldogs to one second-quarter point and carried a 17-9 lead into the break.
Against Paris Mayo, Lockhart netted nine points and Logan Rosenthal chipped in with seven points.
St. Joseph (11-3) returns to action on Monday (Jan. 10) at Prairieview Ogden.
