Adena Paul leads Hawks in rebounding
By Fred Kroner
Junior Adena Paul reached double figures in rebounding for the third game in a row on Monday (Jan. 10), but the Heritage junior varsity girls’ basketball team dropped a 30-12 decision at Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond while ending a 32-day layoff from games.
Freshman Kamryn Soard led the Hawks with five points. Gracie Tate netted three points. Paul pulled down 10 rebounds. Paul and Loran Tate each scored two points.
Gracie Tate also contributed nine rebounds and a team-high four steals.
“Our girls did not shoot very well,” Heritage JV coach Kami Hetman said, “and we had too many turnovers, but our defense was great.
“I was proud of them for how hard they worked. They kept positive attitudes the whole game and never gave up. We dropped this game to a very athletic AL/AH team.”
The Heritage JV (0-6) returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 13) at Urbana University High.
