Pence, Smith help Spartans overcome two-game losing streak

Ty Pence and Logan Smith formed a potent 1-2 punch on Tuesday (Jan. 18) as the St. Joseph-Ogden boys’ basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 64-54 triumph at Prairie Central.

Pence registered team-high totals of 25 points (12 of 16 from the free-throw line) and eight rebounds. Smith tossed in 19 points. Andrew Beyers added seven points and collected five rebounds.

Evan Ingram and Coy Taylor each distributed three assists.

SJ-O trailed, 12-11, after one period, but had vaulted into a lead by halftime, 24-20.

The Spartans (13-4) return to action on Friday (Jan. 21) at home against Chillicothe IVC.
