Villa Grove Softball scores back-to-back wins

Villa Grove’s softball team unleashed a potent offensive attack in recording back-to-back wins to open the season.
On Tuesday (March 15), the Blue Devils dispatched visiting Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 12-2. On Wednesday (March 16), VG overpowered Monticello at home, 18-9.
The Blue Devils pounded 13 hits in the opener and 18 in the second game.
Alison Pangburn swatted three hits against GCMS. Teammates with two hits were Logan Lillard, Maci Clodfelder and Addie Wilson.
Alex Brown pitched a five-inning complete game. She scattered three hits and walked two batters. She collected 10 strikeouts.
Against Monticello, VG carried a 9-8 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but tallied nine runs to end the game by the 10-run rule.
Pangburn delivered four hits. Three were doubles and one was a home run.
Chloe Reardon also produced a four-hit game.
Lillard had three hits and Kaylee Arbuckle had two hits, a double and a triple. Emma Bratten-Noice slugged a home run.
Lillard pitched all five innings and picked up the win. She yielded six hits and one walk. She notched four strikeouts.
Villa Grove (2-0) returns to action on Saturday (March 19) in the Casey-Westfield Tournament.
