Spartan baseball shuts out Rantoul in conference game

St. Joseph-Ogden rolled up 19 runs in the first two innings on Thursday (April 7) and posted a 28-0 shutout at Rantoul in an Illini Prairie Conference baseball game.
Caleb Ochs and Jack Robertson combined on a one-hitter, each hurler pitching two innings. Ochs earned the win and struck out three batters. Robertson fanned five Eagles.
Maddux Carter sparked the offense with three hits and four RBI. Charles Voorhees also knocked in four runs. Both Voorhees and Robertson blasted home runs.
Contributing two hits apiece were Tyler Altenbaumer, Hayden Brazelton, Austin Cotter and Braxton Waller.
Tanner Jacob scored four runs and stole a base.
On Saturday (April 9), the Spartans played two games at Williamsville and defeated Tremont 7-2 in the opener before topping Williamsville 9-3 in the second game.
Altenbaumer pitched a complete game against Tremont and shut out the Turks until the seventh inning. He allowed four hits, walked no one and struck out nine.
Altenbaumer and Andrew Beyers each drove in two runs. Connor Hale produced two hits and Brazelton scored two runs and stole two bases.
Against Williamsville, Brazelton registered eight strikeouts in four innings and picked up the pitching win.
He was followed to the mound by Griffin Roesch, Robertson and Price, each of whom threw one inning.
SJ-O took control with a five-run third inning.
Coby Miller had two hits, including a double and a home run. He had three RBI. Altenbaumer drilled two hits and scored twice.
Brazelton and Voorhees also crossed home plate twice.
SJ-O (11-2) returns to action on Monday (April 11) at Stanford Olympia.
