SJO Cross Country places second at Cowchip Classic

St. Joseph-Ogden freshman Lance Retz was the second-place runner on Saturday (Sept. 3) in the flighted Chrisman Cowchip Boys’ Cross-Country Classic.
His 3-mile time in the race for No. 1 runners from each school was 16 minutes, 48.1 seconds.
As a team, SJ-O placed second in a meet that attracted runners from 25 high schools.
Meet champion Monticello was first with 105 points. SJ-O was the runner-up with 112 points.
Ethan Blackburn was the runner-up in the race for No. 2 runners (17:28.4) and Aden Armstrong was second in the race for No. 3 runners in 17:44.3.
Other participants for the Spartans were Jack Fisher, second in the race for No. 4 runners (17:21.2); Holden Jones, fifth in the race for No. 5 runners in 18:32.0; Mason Guido, third in the race for No. 6 runners in 18:58.4 and Joe Griebat, second in the race for No. 7 runners in 18:47.2.
SJ-O will return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 6) in a meet at Kickapoo State Park against Oakwood/Salt Fork and Armstrong-Potomac.
