Spartan soccer picks up two wins

St. Joseph-Ogden’s soccer team finished the week with two victories in a three-day span.
The Spartans defeated Olympia, 5-1, on Thursday (Sept. 15) and followed up with a 3-0 triumph over Chillicothe IVC on Saturday (Sept. 17).
Against Olympia, SJ-O snapped a 1-1 halftime deadlock by scoring all four of the second-half goals, two by Spencer Wilson.
Also finding the back of the net were Ryker Lockhart, Jacek Slowikowski and Zach Harper.
Logan Mills contributed two assists while teammates Jackson Greer and Collin Thomey added one apiece.
Goalkeeper Hunter Ketchum collected five saves.
Against IVC, goalies Ketchum (six saves) and Carter Mabry (two saves) protected the team’s third shutout of the season.
Thomey had a goal and an assist. Greer and Alex Acosta recorded the team’s other goals. Cromwell had one assist.
SJ-O (7-2-1) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 20) at Tolono Unity.
