Spartans suffer loss at Maroa-Forsyth

St. Joseph-Ogden dropped a 9-0 decision in its regular-season finale in girls’ tennis at Maroa-Forsyth on Monday (Oct. 10).
The Spartans suffered three heart-breaking losses.
At No. 1 singles, Abbey Dow lost a tough decision to Kristen Tuan, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10).
In doubles, two Spartan duos lost hard-fought decisions.
At No. 2, Addison Seggebruch and Lily Rice were downed by Jasmeet Kaur and Hana Qidan, 7-5, 7-5.
At No. 3, Hallie Harms and Emma Thurman lost a close 7-6 (7), 6-3 decision to Shokrea Qidan and Richa Patel.
SJ-O returns to action in the 11-school Class 1A Centennial Sectional on Friday (Oct. 14) at the Lindsay courts.
The Spartans’ entries in doubles will be Rice and Seggebruch along with Addison Ross and Makennah Hamilton.
Dow, who has played No. 1 singles all season, will represent the team in singles as will Katie McDermott.
The team’s alternants are Madison Clampitt and Lauren Lannert in singles. In doubles, alternants are Harms and Thurman along with Jessica Gadbury and Olivia Getty.
