By Fred Kroner
St. Joseph-Ogden quarterback Logan Smith moved up two more positions on the list of the state’s passing leaders.
The junior stands fifth entering the Spartans’ regular-season finale with 1,782 passing yards. Smith has had six consecutive games with at least 170 passing yards and has thrown at least one touchdown pass in each of SJ-O’s first eight games.
His favorite receiver, Coy Taylor, is second in receiving yards with 988. Taylor is just 12 yards behind the state leader.
One other SJ-O athlete is among the state’s best. Receiver Ty Pence ranks 21st in receiving yards with 580.
SJ-O (5-3) tries to clinch an automatic playoff berth on Friday (Oct. 21) when it plays at home against Paxton-Buckley-Loda (5-3).
