Junior Jaydah Arrowsmith recorded a 12-point performance on Saturday (Nov. 19) to lift Oakwood to a first-round victory over Westville, 41-27, in the McDonald’s Comet Classic.
She had a supporting cast that included Addie Wright (nine points), Bella Bradford (eight points) and Kalie Tison (five points).
Wright tallied seven of her points in the final quarter and the Comets held off the Tigers by sinking 7 of 9 fourth-quarter free throws.
The Oakwood defense, meanwhile, limited Westville to six field goals during the game, but sent the visitors to the free throw line for 28 attempts.
Oakwood (1-1) returns to action on Monday (Nov. 21) against Casey-Westfield.
