Westville defeats St. Joseph in IESA regional play

St. Joseph’s eighth-grade girls’ basketball team suffered a quarterfinal exit in the IESA Class 3A regional tournament at Paris Mayo on Monday (Nov 28).
The sixth-seeded Panthers dropped a 23-12 decision to third-seeded Westville.
Hayden Dahl scored a team-high five points. Adeline Stevens totaled three points and Iris Davis added two points. Making one free throw apiece were Brynn Ikemire and Kiah Riesel.
For the season, Dahl led the team in scoring in 13 games. Abigail Crider was the leader in four games.
Dahl amassed 101 points for the season and Crider was next with 67 points. Rounding out the team’s top five scorers were Risel (57 points), Stevens (50 points) and Maggie Hewkin (19 points).
The eighth-graders finish the season with a 4-16 overall record.
The St. Joseph seventh-graders ended the year with a 5-15 overall record. Ainsley Dirksmeyer led the team in scoring in nine games.. Megan Kearney was the leader in seven games and Brooklyn Stevens led in four games.
