Comets fall in Vermilion Valley Conference opener

Oakwood’s boys’ basketball team, which won’t play a home game until January, was outscored 24-6 in the third quarter on Tuesday (Dec. 13) and dropped its Vermilion Valley Conference opener at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, 67-41.
The B-H/R-A halftime lead was 30-23.
Josh Ruch led the Comets with nine points. Brody Taflinger hit eight points. Finishing with six points apiece were Alec Harrison, Dalton Hobick and Tanner Pichon.
Oakwood (8-3) returns to action on Friday (Dec. 16) at Armstrong-Potomac.
