Four Oakwood/Salt Fork place at Randy Bowman Invite

Four Oakwood/Salt Fork wrestlers placed second and one other teammate finished third on Saturday (Jan. 21) in the Randy Bowman Invitational, at LeRoy.
Securing runner-up finishes were Tyler Huchel (113 pounds), Reef Pacot (145 pounds), Bryson Capansky (152 pounds) and Dalton Brown (170 pounds).
The program’s third-place finisher was Brayden Edwards (106 pounds). Harley Grimm (182 pounds) ended in fourth place.
Huchel pinned his way to the finals, where he dropped a 4-2 decision. Pacot had one pin and suffered a 3-2 loss in the title bout.
Capansky and Brown each went 3-1 for the day, with two pins. They each had one first-period fall as did Pacot. Both of Huchel’s pins were secured within the first 90 seconds.
Edwards was 3-1 with one pin. He collected it in 1 minute and 34 seconds. Grimm was 2-2 for the tournament with two falls. The quickest was in 1:17.
The Comets’ non-placers, who won at least one match were Jack Ajster (2-2 at 120 pounds), Thomas Wells (1-2 at 126 pounds) and Blake Barney (2-2 at 160 pounds with one first-period pin).
Oakwood/Salt Fork had entries in 12 of the 14 weight classes. The Comets collectively were 20-19 for the day with 11 pins, eight of which occurred in the first period.
The Comets ended in fifth-place in the 20-tem event.
Meet champion LeRoy amassed 210 ½ points. Runner-up Auburn totaled 197 ½ points. Oakwood/Salt Fork recorded 128 points.
On Thursday (Jan. 19), seven Oakwood/Salt Fork wrestlers collected pins as the Comets overpowered Charleston at home, 60-13, in a dual meet.
The team’s pinners were Huchel (113 pounds), Ajster (120 pounds), Pedro Rangel (126 pounds), Carter Chambliss (132 pounds), Pacot (145 pounds), Capansky (152 pounds) and Grimm (182 pounds).
Picking up forfeit wins for Oakwood were Edwards (!06 pounds), Barney (160 pounds) and Brown (!70 pounds).
The Comets return to action on Thursday (Jan. 26) at Salt Fork in a Senior Night meet that will also include Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin and Monticello.
