The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Interstate 74 in both
directions just west of St. Joseph in Champaign County will close overnight for four nights
starting today, March 6.
The closures are necessary for the removal of beams on the County Road 2000E bridge over I-74
and will be from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night through Thursday morning. Eastbound traffic will
be detoured at U.S. 150 (exit 185), and westbound traffic at Ogden (exit 197).
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are
urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted
speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
