Kendrick Johnson pitches no-hitter against Tuscola

St. Joseph-Ogden sophomore Kendrick Johnson fired a no-hitter on Tuesday (March 21) in an 18-0 baseball win at Tuscola in a contest called by the 10-run rule after four innings.

Johnson, who struck out seven batters, was backed by a 13-hit attack which included home runs by Braxton Waller and Charles Voorhees.

Waller, who was 3-for-3, also swatted a triple and drove in six runs.

Jack Robertson (three RBI), Luke Landrus (two hits) and Adam Price (two RBI) all belted doubles for SJ-O. Voorhees also knocked in two runs.

On Wednesday (March 22), Caleb Ochs and Landrus teamed up on a three-hitter as the Spartans posted a 9-2 win at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.

Ochs worked four innings and didn’t yield an earned run. He gave up three hits and one walk while fanning 10 batters. Landrus pitched three scoreless innings, recording six strikeouts while walking one.

Waller continued his prolific hitting week, going 2-for-2 with three RBI. He delivered one double.

Tanner Jacob also landed two hits. Garret Denhart stole three bases and scored two runs.

The Spartans took the lead for good with a four-run second-inning uprising that lifted them into a 6-2 advantage.

SJ-O (2-2) returns to action on Friday (March 24) at Morton’s Westwood Park.
