Landrus and Robertson throw fourth shutout of the season

Luke Landrus and Jack Robertson teamed up to throw the fourth shutout thrown by St. Joseph-Ogden baseball pitchers in the past five games on Wednesday (April 12) as the Spartans won at Villa Grove, 15-0.

It was the second 15-0 triumph for SJ-O in a three-day span to start the week. The team won at home on Monday (April 10) by the same score against Stanford Olympia.

Against Villa Grove, Landrus worked three innings, permitting one hit and one walk. He struck out five batters. Robertson pitched the final frame, walking two and striking out one.

Leading the offensive assault were Adam Price with three hits and two runs batted in, Charles Voorhees with two hits and three RBI, and Braxton Waller with two hits.

Nolan Earley and Voorhees each crushed home runs. Earley knocked in three runs. Jared Altenbaumer chipped in with two hits and Maddux Carter tallied two runs as did Voorhees. Price crossed home plate three times.

Against Olympia, Connor Hale pitched the shutout. He worked four innings, yielded four hits and one walk. He fanned seven batters.

Hale was backed by an offense that included three hits apiece from Tanner Jacob and Landrus. Price drove in four runs. Landrus ended with three RBI as did Jacob.

Jacob and Coy Taylor both scored three runs. Landrus and Price each scored two runs.

Hale was 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI. Charles Voorhees scored two runs. Altenbaumer tallied two runs.

SJ-O (11-4) has won five games in a row and returns to action on Thursday (April 13) at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
