Nikita Taylor finishes 8th in 200 at GCMS Invite

Nikita Taylor was the top finisher for the Oakwood girls’ track and field team on Friday (April 21) in the 18-school Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Invitational.
She ran eighth in the 200 meters (29.90 seconds).
Two of the Comets’ relays also fared well.
The 400-meter relay, consisting of Taylor Smoot, Luci Morris, Taylor Jett and Aubri Elliott was seventh (57.85 seconds) while the 800-meter foursome of Taylor, Morris, Jett and Elliott was 10th (2:05.05).
Oakwood runners who recorded their personal-best times were Morris (13th in the 100 meters at 15.06 seconds) and Smoot (12th in the 400 meters at 1:14.66).
Team honors in the meet were captured by Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin with 107 points.

On Thursday (April 20), the Comets’ 400-meter relay unit of Smoot, Morris, Jett and Elliott placed fifth in the Westville Tiger girls’ track and field invitational. Their cumulative time was 58.23 seconds.
The five-school invitational was postponed by weather conditions after six of 17 girls’ events were completed. Blue Ridge was leading with 66 points and Oakwood was in fifth (2 points) when the invitational was stopped.
The Comets will return to action on Friday (April 28) in the Monticello Invitational.
