Four Spartan softball players recognized with All-State Honors

Four members of St. Joseph-Ogden’s 25-11 softball team were accorded some form of All-State mention on teams selected this week by the Illinois Coaches Association.
Garnering first-team recognition for the second consecutive year was senior infielder Shayne Immke. She is a three-time honoree by the ICA, collecting All-State second-team honors as a sophomore when she was the state leader with 17 home runs.
SJ-O’s Addy Martinie earned second-team All-State laurels this spring, moving up from third-team mention in 2022.
Spartans named to the All-State third team were Peyton Jones and Addison Frick. The ICA recognition was the first for both Jones and Frick.
Immke was one of two players in the state this year to eclipse the previous IHSA record for home runs in a season. She socked 25, bettering the previous mark of 24.
However, she stands second on the all-time single-season list. Peyton Brown, a senior infielder on the Class 2A state championship Rockridge team, belted 27 home runs.
Immke batted .600 as a senior, scoring 77 runs and driving in 64. She broke the SJ-O season record for triples, with 13. For her career, Immke maintained a .616 batting average and powered 51 home runs.
Martinie, a junior third baseman, blasted 16 home runs and knocked in 57 runs for the Spartans. She carved out a .430 season batting average.
Jones, a senior shortstop, batted .520 for the season. She stole a team-high 36 bases and contributed 40 RBI. In 94 career games for SJ-O, Jones accumulated a .500 batting average with 160 hits in 320 at-bats.
Frick, a junior outfielder, batted .435 for the season. She stroked five home runs, stole 19 bases and drove in 23 runs.
Both Immke and Jones will continue their softball careers at Normal’s Heartland Community College.
SJ-O tied for fourth place in the 10-school Illini Prairie Conference standings.
