DelRossi and Stierwalt start cross country season strong

Eighth-graders Leah DelRossi and Reaghan Stierwalt finished within eight seconds of one another for Heritage in the school’s first junior high girls’ cross-country meet of the season on Tuesday (Aug. 15) at Paris Mayo.
DelRossi’s 2-mile time was 16:23. Stierwalt finished in 16:31.
The other Heritage runners at Paris were Rylen Stierwalt (17:40), Rhorie Stierwalt (18:30), Gwen Keely (18:33) and Kimber Sands (18:33). There were a total of 17 runners.
On Saturday (Aug 19), Reaghan Stierwalt was 14th out of 79 runners in the race for eighth-graders at the Saber Corm Race at Champaign St. Matthew. She crossed the finish line in 15:42.
In the race for fifth-graders, Rhorie Stierwalt was sixth in 16:59. She was one of 40 participants.
DelRossi finished in 16:01 and was 17th in the eighth-grade race. Rylen Stierwalt was timed in 17:18 and was 39th out of 82 runners in the seventh-grade race. Sands reached the finish line in 18:18 and was 46th in the race for seventh-grade girls. Keely dropped her time to 17:37 and ended 30th out of 114 competitors in the race for sixth-grade girls.
Heritage is scheduled to return to action on Saturday (Aug. 26) at the Paris Mayo Invitational.
