St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Department to hold Open House on Oct. 12
The St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Protection District is excited to announce its annual Open House, in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week. This year’s event promises to be as memorable and educational as ever, with special emphasis on bringing the community together to celebrate the bravery and dedication of its firefighters.
The Open House, which will take place on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, is open to all residents, free of charge. While the majority of the activities are tailored for young children, individuals of all ages are encouraged to attend and participate.
The evening will be packed with activities that include fire prevention and safety demonstrations, a bounce house for the children, a tour of the station, equipment demonstrations, and complimentary hot dogs, chips, and pop – available until supplies last.
A Special Tribute to Ross Booker
This year, the Fire Department is introducing a poignant addition to the program. The “Gift of Hope,” in honor of the late Ross Booker, will be holding a donor flag-raising ceremony at the commencement of the event at 5:30 pm.
Ross Booker, a cherished member of the St. Joseph community, tragically lost his life in an accident while working for a local towing company. A young man with dreams and aspirations, Ross was only 20 when he was fatally struck by a vehicle. He was a proud 2020 SJO graduate and was deeply rooted in his hometown. His passion for service was evident from the moment he expressed interest in joining the fire department. The enthusiasm and dedication he brought inspired many, making a lasting impression on those around him. Ross was deeply committed to helping others, whether through his career, his involvement with the fire department, or his personal aspirations.
The Fire Department, along with the SJS Fire Family and members, invites the community to join in paying tribute to Ross Booker and to recognize the significance of his short yet impactful life. It is a solemn reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of community support during challenging times.
The St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Protection District looks forward to seeing the community come together, not only to learn about fire safety but to honor and remember a young man who was dedicated to serving and helping those around him.
