St. Joseph Junior High School named one of the state’s top schools
St. Joseph Junior High School and St. Joseph-Ogden High School were named two of the top schools in the state by receiving an “exemplary” ranking on the Illinois Report Card. St. Joseph Elementary School received a “commendable status.”
The 2023 Report Card is based on data collected in the fall of 2022.
At the high school level, 51 percent of SJ-O students were proficient in ELA, 38-percent in math and 59-percent in science. The report shows 66-percent of St. Joseph Junior High students were proficient in ELA, 51-percent in math and 76-percent in science. At the elementary level, 38-percent of students were proficient in ELA and 50-percent in math.
The report shows that chronic absenteeism, meaning students who miss 10-percent or more of school with or without a valid excuse, is at 18-percent.
The St. Joseph CCSD#169 District spends roughly $9,900 per student enrolled while St. Joseph-Ogden #305 spends about $12,000 per student.
The teacher retention rate, the 3-year average percentage of teachers returning to work at St. Joseph and St. Joseph-Ogden is 92-percent.
On average, teachers within both school districts receive a lower salary than their state-wide counterparts. This has held true at least since 2015.
The St. Joseph #169 District had a total of 822 students while St. Joseph-Ogden had 456 students.
