Six Comets named to All-Vermilion County football team

Oakwood’s football program produced six All-Vermilion County players this season, four from its offensive unit and two from its defensive brigade.
Chase Harrison was recognized as an All-County first-team honoree at two positions, wide receiver and defensive back.
Other Comets named to the first-team offensive unit were lineman Kam Acord, running back Cameron Black and punter Jacob Pricer.
The team’s other defensive selection was linebacker Harley Grimm, who set a school season-record for tackles (132).
On the special mention team, Pricer was recognized as a placekicker as were offensive lineman Walker Enos, defensive end Alec Harrison and linebacker Zeke Smith.
Chosen to the honorable mention team were Jackson Dudley, Tyler Huchel and Kade Fleming.

In separate voting, four Oakwood athletes were recognized as first-teamers on the All-Vermilion Valley Conference honor squad.
The school’s honorees were Black (running back), Grimm (linebacker), Chase Harrison (receiver) and Pricer (punter).
Tabbed for the all-conference second team were Acord (lineman) and Chase Harrison (defensive back).
Alec Harrison (defensive end) was an honorable mention choice.
Oakwood had a final record of 4-5. Black rushed for a team-best 936 yards and led the Comets in scoring (116 points).
Chase Harrison was the team’s top receiver (28 catches for 579 yards and eight TDs). Alec Harrison hauled in 17 passes for 240 yards and four TDs.
Smith (94 tackles), Chase Harrison (68 tackles), Huchel (66 tackles) and Alec Harrison (60 tackles) joined Grimm as mainstays on defense.
Pricer connected on 19 of 24 extra-point attempts for the year.
Dudley passed for 1,038 yards and 17 touchdowns.
