Hawks win home-opener

Heritage bounced back from a first-game loss to win its home-opener on Thursday (Nov. 9) in an eighth-grade boys’ basketball game against Armstrong-Potomac.
Cameron Johnson hit a game-high 29 points in a 51-16 triumph over Armstrong-Potomac. Landin McComas added 10 points and Christian Paul finished with five points.
On Tuesday (Nov. 7), Paul scored 14 points in the season-opener a 56-42 loss at Shiloh.
The team’s other scoring leaders in the first game were Johnson (nine points) and Colby Schrock (eight points).
On Monday (Nov. 13), Heritage traveled to Rossville and came back with a 33-20 victory.
Johnson registered a 23-point game. The team’s other scoring contributors were Schrock (six points) and McComas (four points).
The eighth-graders have a 2-1 season record.

The Heritage seventh-graders dropped a 38-14 decision at Shiloh on Tuesday (Nov. 7). Bryson Warren totaled five points and Nathan Bonilla contributed four points in the team’s first game.
In Heritage’s home-opener against Armstrong-Potomac on Thursday (Nov. 9), the visitors scored a 24-5 win in the seventh-grade contest. Warren tallied three points and Bonilla made two points.
In a game at Rossville on Monday (Nov. 13), Heritage took a 23-15 loss. Joao Vega had a team-best 12 points. Michael George made two points and Russell High added a free throw.
The seventh-graders are 0-3.
Heritage returns to action on Thursday (Nov. 16) at home against Gifford.
