Hawks spread scoring leads in first five games

The Heritage girls’ basketball team had four different scoring leaders in its first four games of the season.

The fourth-game leader, in a 68-11 loss on Monday (Nov. 20) at Central A&M, was Bri Ploense with seven points. She dropped in one three-pointer.

Brooklyn Powell had two points. Contributing one free throw apiece were Gwen Happ and Loran Tate.

Ploense joined Addi Hopper, Powell and Tate as the Hawks’ scoring leaders in the first four games.

In the team’s fifth game, on Tuesday (Nov. 21), Hopper became the school’s first two-time scoring leader. She tallied six points (sinking two three-pointers) in a 68-14 loss to Casey-Westfield in the second round of the Oakwood Comet Classic.

Tate hit four points. Ploense and Powell both registered two points.

Heritage (0-5) will return to action on Friday (Nov. 24) in the final round of the Comet Classic.
