Hawks defeat Champaign Academy

Freshman Brooklyn Powell tallied a team-high 12 points on Saturday (Dec. 2) as the Heritage girls’ basketball team rolled to its first win of the season, 31-24, at home over Champaign Academy.
Bri Ploense contributed eight points and Addi Hopper collected six points. Loran Tate scored three points and Gracie Tate made two points.
Heritage led, 6-0, after one quarter, but the schools were tied, 14-14, at halftime. The Hawks used a 10-5 third-quarter run to establish control.
Heritage (1-8) hit 1 of 16 shots from the free throw line.
The Hawks will return to action on Monday (Dec. 4) at Sullivan.
