Hoopeston Area defeats Oakwood girls’ basketball

Oakwood’s girls’ basketball team suffered a 45-36 loss on Thursday (Dec. 14) at Hoopeston Area.
The Comets fell behind, 17-3, in the first quarter and even though they scored the most points thereafter, couldn’t overcome the early deficit and dropped a 45-36 decision.
Jaydah Arrowsmith scored all 19 of her team-high points in the final three quarters. Nikita Taylor tallied seven points, Luci Morris hit five points, Gracie Hanner collected three points and Mady Nicoson wound up with two points.
On Saturday (Dec. 16), the Comets fell behind, 18-3, after one quarter and wound up on the short end of the count with a 55-36 loss.
Arrowsmith tallied a team-high 17 points. Taylor scored 12 points, Hanner made five points and Morris ended with two points.
Oakwood (4-8) returns to action on Thursday (Dec. 21) at St. Joseph-Ogden.
