Oakwood/Salt Fork wrestling earns team honors at Skull and Crossbones Tournament

With five wrestlers reaching championship matches, Oakwood/Salt Fork copped team honors on Saturday (Dec. 16) in the 21-school Skull and Crossbones Tournament at Toledo Cumberland.
The Comets amassed 232 points and far outdistanced runner-up Lawrenceville (144 ½ points).
The Oakwood/Salt Fork champion was senior Bryson Capansky (4-0 at 157 pounds). He posted two pins (the quickest in 3:54) and added one win by technical fall.
The Comets’ runners-up were Steven Uden (2-1 at 106 pounds), Brayden Edwards (2-1 at 113 pounds), Pedro Rangel (3-1 at 132 pounds), Grant Brewer (3-1 at 150 pounds) and Dalton Brown (3-1 at 175 pounds).
Edwards registered two pins, with the quickest in 26 seconds. Rangel had one pin (in 3:17) to go along with a technical fall win. Brewer collected two pins, including one in 25 seconds. Brown won by pin in each of his three wins, with a fast fall of 43 seconds.
The team’s other five placers were Jack Ajster (third at 138 pounds), Jamison Chambliss (third at 190 pounds), Tyler Huchel (fourth at 120 pounds), Thomas Wells (fourth at 126 pounds) and Carter Chambliss (fifth at 144 pounds).
Ajster was 4-1 with three pins (the fastest in 4:15), Jamison Chambliss was 4-1 with three pins (the quickest in 1:36), Huchel was 3-2 with three pins (including one in 30 seconds), Wells was 3-2 with one pin (in 1:53) and Carter Chambliss was 2-2 with two pins (one of which happened in 34 seconds).
Two other Oakwood/Salt Fork wrestlers secured a win during the tournament. Reid Dazey was 1-2 at 165 pounds and Kade Fleming was 1-2 at 285 pounds.
Overall, the Comets’ cumulative record for the day was 35-17 with 22 pins and two wins by technical fall.
Oakwood/Salt Fork (12-0) returns to action on Tuesday (Dec. 19) in a triangular meet at Canton.
